Manhattan Rye

Tuthilltown Spirits is a relatively new distiller in New York, offering three bourbons in adorable little bottles that catch eyes wherever they go (Four Grain, Baby Bourbon, Manhattan Rye). I've tasted all three (thanks, Elixer), and all are quality bourbons, but the favorite for me was the Manhattan Rye--full and mature, has complexity and depth, not too sharp but with a hint of spice. The Baby Bourbon also was tasty, but was less rich--definitely younger. The Four Grain was fine, but didn't captivate as much as the others. It's pricey stuff, $50-$60 a bottle--though certainly worth a try if your local stocks it.

Went to

the coast and sat on a sandy beach. Too bad it was so damn cold. So much for the tropics.

Cuban. Curious. Let's try it, he said. OK, and so they did.
